Lowell B. Cooley

Lowell B. Cooley, 97, passed away March 7, 2024 in Bellevue, Neb. He was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Sandersville.

Lowell was a World War II veteran who first enlisted in the Navy and spent time in Guam and Okinawa. He exited the Navy and entered the Air Force, where he worked on the B52 bombers for most of his career. After 20 years of service, he retired from the military. He then worked for many years in the civil service and eventually retired. Lowell and his wife Barbara then moved to Kalispell, Mont., where they lived for many years.

Lowell is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Smith Cooley; daughter Deborah Cooley; parents Buford and Mattie Cooley; brother Wilford Cooley; and and sister Wilvaree Harper.

He is survived by his grandchildren Brant (Aimee) Hill of Bellevue and Blake (Deidre) Thompson of Kalispell, Mont.; three great-grandchildren; brother Darrell (Jackie) Cooley; sister Barbara (Frank) Sistrunk; and nieces, nephews and other family.
