Ben Affleck has proved the supportive husband by lending his acting abilities to wife Jennifer Lopez’s new movie, albeit in the form of a seriously bizarre cameo.
What is new movie This is me… ?
Jennifer Lopez’s new film, This is Me… Now was released on Amazon Prime today (February 16). The movie was released alongside her new album of the same name. The record is a sequel to her 2002 release This is Me… Then and both are heavily inspired by her romances with Ben Affleck.
The celebrity couple were together in the early 2000s and almost married before calling off their engagement. The pair got back together in 2021 and married in 2022.
Jennifer, who shared a steamy kiss with her husband at the premiere, had previously opened up about how their relationship ended the first time around in 2004. She was with the Hollywood actor for two years between 2002 and 2004, getting engaged in 2003. The music star said it “crumbled under pressure.”
“Our relationship crumbled under the weight of the pressure. We lost a sense of ourselves, and we needed to separate because we didn’t know how to survive it. I had to figure myself out, and he had to figure himself out,” she explained in an interview with Variety.
Ben Affleck cameo
Ben’s odd cameo comes at the end of the 65-minute movie where he portrays a ranting newsreader named Rex Stone, with a drastic accent change.
During the character’s broadcast, he tells viewers: “Loving yourself means never having to say ‘I’m lonely,.’ It means old Rexy can go down to the lobby bar, order the oysters and a club soda and go to bed smiling, even though the waitress was [as] mean as a diabetic honey badger.
“Because only you can let the love in your heart die, and you should never let it die.”
Fans react to Ben’s surprise appearance
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) people couldn’t quite believe it was Ben Affleck portraying the news anchor in the new Amazon movie which also starred Jennifer Lopez. Some didn’t even notice it was him!
“Hahahaha… Right up to the credits, I didn’t know Ben Affleck was the news anchor. Damn [laughing face emojis] #ThisIsMeNow,” wrote someone else.
“I just realized Ben was the news anchor [laughing face emoji]. #ThisIsMeNow,” a fifth penned.
